Period Health Initiative

This inititative aims to reduce the stigma around periods, encourage dialogue about menstrual health, share information about the menstrual cycle & sustainable period products and reduce barriers to period products.

More Infomation

With the support of Healthy Ireland and Department of Health, we have delivered free period products to 30 community buildings in Co. Monaghan. This was a very welcome initiative, with many community members expressing there was a great need for free period products to be available in community bathrooms.

In May and June 2024, we were delighted to host two period health talks, one for parents and students from St. Louis Girls' National School, Monaghan Town and another for a group of young adults, facilitated by Ellie Loftus of NICKEZE. Teach na nDaoine FRC and NICKEZE kindly sponsored a week’s supply of sustainable and reusable period underwear for all participants. Participants were excited to try period pants for the first time and enthusiastic at the idea of reducing their impact on the environment by using a more sustainable period product. In May we also celebrated Menstrual Hygiene Day.

Teach na nDaoine FRC will continue to promote period health and aim to reduce barriers to access period products. Our next project will focus on providing community venues with sustainable products and sponsor period products for marginalised groups.
